The harbour is not the town station
The island railway links the ferry harbour with Borkum Bahnhof via Jakob-van-Dyken-Weg. Keep these stops distinct when planning. Arriving at the harbour does not mean you are already in the town centre. Note both your sailing and the relevant railway journey, together with where you want to begin exploring.
Read the departure time carefully
Borkumer Kleinbahn explains that the ship departure times on its ticket refer to the railway departure towards the harbour. Check exactly which departure and boarding point your own ticket means. Do not apply that time automatically to another operator or a separately booked trip. If anything is unclear, ask the ticket issuer before travelling.
Start your walk from where you arrive
After the railway journey, plan your visit from the station. Decide whether to walk or add another journey. For a short visit, a manageable route with a clear turning point works well. A longer island walk and an extra bus ride are separate activities; check their current connections and return routes.
Plan luggage and the return together
If you leave luggage somewhere or hire a bicycle, include collection or return time before your journey home. Ask the operator which services your ticket includes and which reservations are needed. Nordsee-Ticket displays only integrated offers; this guide does not promise that every railway or ferry service is bookable here.
Common questions
Is the island railway automatically included?
Your specific ticket determines what is included. Check with its issuer, especially when booking separate parts of the journey.
